Public service demonstration in France

France, 24.01.2008

Wednesday 6 February 2008

All the versions of this article:

On 24th January, several public service trade unions have organised actions in France. The CFTC also participated in this demonstration, on the occasion of which public service workers of France expressed their discontent and asked that attention would be given to their demands.

The trade unions namely demand that salary negotiations would take place in the first week of February, when the government organises its ‘week of the Civil Service’.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, the trade unions indicate that the different demonstrations organised last year in 2007 but also already this year in 2008, show the necessity of holding these negotiations.

Already since last summer, the trade unions have been ready to engage in negotiations, but the government has so far not given any response to the trade union call.
