A guidebook for the implementation of corporate social responsibility in small and medium-sized enterprises

Tuesday 2 April 2013

Corporate social responsibility refers to the way in which companies take due account of the interests of their employees, but also to…

the relations they have with the local community and their relations with other businesses.

The general idea has always been that corporate social responsibility is a matter mainly reserved for big multinationals and not so much for small and medium-sized enterprises. CSR ? Nice to have, but not really important in terms of the day-to-day functioning of SMEs. However, times are changing.

The European Commission has recently published new resources to help smaller businesses in the field of corporate social responsibility. After all, SMEs are the predominant form of business in the European Union. A handbook is available, mainly intended for SME advisers, as well as a guide for human rights in SMEs, a report of a group experts on CSR and SMEs (already published in 2007, but still relevant today), etc.

All this information, available in different languages, can be found on CSR and SMEs.
