the relations they have with the local community and their relations with other businesses.
The general idea has always been that corporate social responsibility is a matter mainly reserved for big multinationals and not so much for small and medium-sized enterprises. CSR ? Nice to have, but not really important in terms of the day-to-day functioning of SMEs. However, times are changing.
The European Commission has recently published new resources to help smaller businesses in the field of corporate social responsibility. A handbook is available, mainly intended for SME advisers, as well as a guide for human rights in SMEs, a report of a group experts on CSR and SMEs (already published in 2007, but still relevant today), etc.
All this information, available in different languages, can be found on CSR and SMEs.
